Corona virus relief project
This project, delivered over four months during the early part of the corona virus calamity, brought relief to eight areas within Jharkhand, N.E. India. It benefited over 3,000 households. The project reached many families facing total poverty, where the virus had caused loss of work on a very large scale, bringing near starvation, hopelessness and depression.
Income-generating schemes included fast food stalls, raising livestock and basket weaving. Cash-for-work included repairing wells and village schools, building school kitchens, toilets and educational facilities, land levelling and making fields ready for growing crops.
The whole project was completed within the budget gifted by Lenity, exceeded original proposals, and has saved lives and upheld dignity among the most vulnerable households in this area of rural villages.
